Engaging in intelligent conversations about books and about their lives, Hanff became emotionally invested crsos the lives of the Marks and Company family. I was in my mid-thirties, she was nearing 70, I had a family, she was alone and fiercely independent. Thus begins a beautiful friendship.

Honestly, I can no longer imagine a world without the existence of this little peculiar and hopeful family. Letters, books and quips crossed the ocean from until and a friendship flourished as I first read 84, Charing Cross Road back in the 70s.
